Airbrush review, Badger Anthem 155
70Badger Anthem 155
Introduction
I have limited experience with dual action brush and wondered if I'd be able to use the brush well enough to review. My experience with a single action brush is much more matured. I have two model 200's also from Badgers line of art products. So this review is as much about my feelings about dual action brushes as it is about the Badger airbrush system.
Lets talk about the facts, the Anthem 155 is a dual action, internal mix air brush with a siphon feed (bottom). It has a single needle design, so it can spray almost any type of paint without the need to buy different needle combinations. The Anthem is capable of many airbrushing techniques including airbrush shirts, airbrush tattoos, airbrush makeup and airbrush tanning.
What is the difference between single and dual action ? Well, with a single action brush, the trigger controls the amount of air going through the brush. The needle is fixed in the tube with a rounded nut and controls how much paint flows through the brush tip. Dual action also controls air when you press the trigger, it controls the paint flow by pulling the trigger back and forth.
While talking about the differences one feature dual and single action brushes have is the default position of the needle can be adjusted. This means that if you have to spray a large area, you can adjust the needle to spray in the open position.

My opinions on this brush
Adjusting to this brush was a very comfortable situation. I have used many types of paint with varying results. The way the needle and tip are setup help this brush to spray all types of paints with little clogging. The smooth back and forth action of the trigger feels good.
I found a range of spray types from the The Anthem 155. From a very thin line, all the way to 3 inches. This brush would be well suited to most all you can do in model railroading. From fine train detailing like locomotives, rolling stock, caboose and don't forget trackwork.
Made of all metal construction, this gives the brush a substantive feel. The Eclipse is very much a durable brush. Disassembly is pretty simple with no tools required. I was surprised at how few parts composed this brush. With a lifetime warranty I am confident this is a quality brush.

Final thoughts
The Badger Anthem 155 airbrush is now my favorite air brush. My other brushes have disappeared to that drawer of no return. The reason for my moving to this brush is by far the range of paints I can use effectively. This gives me more options to use the air brush for. There's nothing worse then having a one job tool.
I found the Anthem 155 very easy to handle, its weight truly compliments it. Cleaning is a breeze and all this says that the Badger Anthem 155 is a quality brush I am happy to use on my models. Badger airbrush supplies everything you need to get started airbrushing.
